Barcelona Triumph in Thrilling El Clásico Final to Claim Copa del Rey Glory

Barcelona staged a stunning comeback to defeat arch-rivals Real Madrid 3-2 in a dramatic Copa del Rey final on Saturday, lifting the trophy for a record 32nd time in a match packed with tension, drama, and late heroics.

Jules Koundé emerged as the unlikely hero, firing home the winning goal in extra time to seal a hard-fought victory for the Catalans. The win marks the first major trophy under new coach Hansi Flick, who took charge after Xavi’s departure earlier this season.

Early Lead, Madrid Fightback
Barcelona struck first when young star Pedri calmly slotted home to give his side the lead. But Real Madrid, the reigning Spanish and European champions, responded fiercely with two quick goals—Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni turning the game on its head within seven second-half minutes.

Just when Madrid seemed in control, Barcelona dug deep. Showing what Koundé later called “great character and pride,” the Blaugrana fought back relentlessly before the French defender delivered the decisive blow in extra time.

Tempers Flare as Madrid Lose Cool
The fiery clash ended in chaos as three Real Madrid players, including England superstar Jude Bellingham, were sent off during and after the match. The heated finale only added to the spectacle of one of football’s greatest rivalries.

With this victory, Barcelona keep their hopes alive for an unprecedented quadruple this season. For now, they celebrate a historic Copa del Rey triumph—proving once again that in El Clásico, anything can happen.
